I don’t know about you, but I live in Utah, where the winters are so freezing cold that swimsuits and beaches seem like a far-off dream. Seems like sunglasses don’t fit anywhere in that picture, right? Wrong! No matter where you live, sunglasses are still a necessity, even during the wintertime. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been driving down a snowy or wet freeway on a sunny winter day, when the sun is reflecting off the wet road and straight into my eyes. Not safe driving conditions, obviously. So what do I do when that happens? Well I reach for my sunglasses, of course! But you know what’s even worse than the sun reflecting off the snow while I’m driving? When my sunglasses have been sitting in my freezing car for so long that they give me a brain freeze when I put them on! Brain freezes are only okay when I’m eating a cherry-red popsicle on a hot summer day. But during a freezing cold Utah winter? No thanks! That’s why I keep using my Lou Lou all year long! Even if I don’t need my sunglasses with my while I roam around the mall during a snowstorm, I do need to keep them warm so I can use them while I drive. If you keep your sunglasses in your Lou Lou and carry them in your purse/backpack/stroller/gym bag/etc., they’ll stay warm so that you can use them all winter long – without getting the dreaded brain freeze.

How do you like to use your Lou in the winter?

Ok Ok, we didn’t really do this and we had no idea that there was a National Sunglasses Day. We wondered how Sunglasses got there very own day? So we figured that since Avenue Lou has the best case for sunglasses, why not have a Sunglasses Case day which of course would be the very next day.

What types of things would happen on this day? These area few ideas Lou had,

1. Everyone would get an Avenue Lou sticker that says “My sunglasses WANT to be a “Never Nude” Lou thinks this is funny and we promise it is, you have to watch Arrested Development to know how clever we are.

2. There would be a billboard that says National Sunglasses CASE Day

Those are all of the ideas we had so far, we are excited about this new day in light of our discovery that there is a National Sunlgasses Day. So happy that we have bodacious days like that.

Many people have asked us which is our most popular case.  We will list them off in case you haven’t seen our product page. Overall we probably have seen them all even out. Navy Maze might have a slight edge. But don’t let us tell you! You might as well get them all. As we get closer to Mothers Day many people have noticed that it is tough to find something for all the Mothers in their lives.  There are older Mom’s shopping for their daughters that are now moms’  and Mother-in-laws that need to see some love.  There are all kinds of Mom’s all over the place that need to know that you love them. It’s tough to find the perfect gift. (You know where this is headed right?)

We had a comment come across Twitter a week or so ago that questioned whether or not a sunglasses case would be considered fashionable or part of mainstream fashion. At first we didn’t think anything of it and brushed it off. But then it stayed in our minds and we got a little bothered. Even with a little business selling sunglass cases there will always be naysayers.

When we stummbled upon this quote by Coco Chanel  our mindset changed a little and we felt much more inspired about our company and what we believe in.  “Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

Fashion is a unique subject, and fortunately for us and for everyone it is open to interpretation . Fashion is about creativity and a desire to have ideas come to life.

That keeps us excited about our sunglass case company! We hope that Avenue Lou Sunglass Cases can not only be practical, but also be something  fun and inspiring at the same time.

Spring is around the corner. This time of year all are anxious to try out their new outfits that just don’t feel right for January and February. But, as soon as March hits- Bam! tank tops, shorts, and all that swim wear.

We are anxious for you as well! We know that the sun comes out this time of year and that means you need your shades, and wait for it….that means you need a SUNGLASSES CASE!

How many people do you think wear sunglasses? 1 out of 2 or 50% of people? Do more women wear them than men? After some diligent research by Avenue Lou we found that in the U.S. about 78% of Americans own a pair of sunglasses. Wow! That is a pretty big percentage. Of those that own a pair, it seems to be around 60% that wear them at least once a day.

Where it gets fuzzy is how many of those people use some form of protection for those shades. When you buy an expensive pair of sunglasses (over $125) about 90% of them come with some form of case. Even so, those are not very protective. The rest of the sunglasses sold do not come with a sunglasses case at all.
